Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was the site of last week's wedding of Vincent and Amanda (Haman) Montemurro...my nephew and his new wife.
These medieval-looking instruments, hanging in an alcove off the vestibule, are used for taking up the congregation's tithes and offerings--without ever allowing the offering basket to leave the control of the usher. I asked for an opportunity to try one out, but was rebuffed, inexplicably. Holy Rosary is located at 4400 22nd Avenue in Kenosha. The congregation dates back to 1904.
